Who will host the next Oscars?Who will host the next Oscars?Of all the presenting jobs on the showbiz calendar, the Oscars ceremony has got to be the big cheese.

So who gets the honour in 2007?

It's Ms Ellen DeGeneres.

The comedienne-turned-chat show queen will preside over the 79th Annual Academy Awards at the Kodak Theatre in Hollywood on Sunday 25 February.

And ceremony producer Laura Ziskin is convinced that Emmy award winning Ellen is perfect for the highly coveted job.

Laura said: "Ellen DeGeneres was born to host the Academy Awards. There is no more challenging hosting job in show business.

"Ellen completely fits the bill. I can already tell she is going to set the bar very high for herself and therefore for all of us involved in putting on the show."

Ellen said: "When Laura Ziskin called, I was thrilled. There's two things I've always wanted to do in my life - one is to host the Oscars. The second is to get a call from Laura Ziskin. You can imagine that day's diary entry."

Ellen is an old hand at presenting high-profile events having twice hosted the Primetime Emmy Awards telecast.

Last year's ceremony was presented by The Daily Show presenter Jon Stewart.
