Charlie Sheen has revealed his marriage to Denise Richards broke down because he watched too much sport on TV.

Bond Girl Richards filed for divorce from Sheen in March after three years of marriage and while pregnant with his child.

But the pair have remained close during their split, with Charlie attending the birth of their baby, and they've also begun talks to rescue their marriage.

And in his new spirit of openness, Charlie has also been talking to David Letterman about his wedded woes.

"It's the first time I got dumped in my life," he confessed on the TV show. "I think the one thing I would point to as a primary reason, basically, is that I was a gigantic a**."

"I had an epiphany later on what the sports highlight is for. The sports highlight is for parents, people that should be spending more time doing more important things," he confessed.

But it seems Mr and Mrs Sheen are on the road to recovery. "Things are really good. Today we have hope, we have a shot," he said.

As long as Denise manages to keep control of that remote control, we presume.
