We all knew that there were many contenders for the role of James Bond in Casino Royale.
What we didn't know was that Daniel Craig, who scooped the part, was not the first choice...
According to the movie's director Martin Campbell, Ewan McGregor was actually the man they wanted.
He says Daniel only landed the role because Ewan said no.
Martin told the Daily Mirror: "I think he got another job or decided he didn't want it."
Apparently, Moulin Rouge star Ewan was concerned he would get typecast if he agreed to play 007.
Martin added that he wasn't "totally convinced" Daniel would be able to match previous Bonds, who include Pierce Brosnan and Sir Sean Connery.
Poor Daniel has been plagued by criticism ever since the world found out he was to be the next super spy.
Diehard Bond fans have insisted he is wrong for the part... But we say, give the poor guy a chance, you haven't seen the movie yet.
Casino Royale hits cinemas in November.
