Linsday Lohan's protective mum, Dina, has blown up at a studio boss who publicly ticked Lindsay off for her partying.
The chief exec of the company behind Lindsay's latest film, Georgia Rule, had described Lindsay's behaviour as "discourteous, irresponsible and unprofessional".
Lindsay, 19, ended up in hospital last Wednesday, "overheated and dehydrated", according to her rep.
The letter was written personally by James G Robinson of Morgan Creek Productions, and was leaked on the Smoking Gun website.
It read: "You and your representatives have told us that your various late arrivals and absences from the set have been the result of illness; today we were told it was 'heat exhaustion'.
"We are well aware that your ongoing all-night heavy partying is the real reason for your so-called 'exhaustion'. We refuse to accept bogus excuses for your behaviour.
"To date your actions on Georgia Rule have been discourteous, irresponsible and unprofessional. You have acted like a spoilt child."
In an interview on American TV show Access Hollywood, Dina Lohan described the wording of the letter as "ridiculous".
She said: "I feel when you are 19, it is way out of line... I'm a mother and will do what I need to do to protect my child.
"Maybe he has personal issues with whomever, and it came out with my child. I don't think it was a smart thing to do to a young girl."
Explaining Lindsay's absence, Dina explained: "Lindsay was in 105 degrees (Fahrenheit), saying, 'Mommy, I feel sick; like I am going to faint.'
"She took herself to the hospital. She has asthma and in extreme cold or heat you can't breathe."
Dina added to People magazine: "My daughter is a wonderful child. This is too much."
Linds has since returned to the set without any problems, according to industry publication Hollywood Reporter.
And Mr Robinson is now apparently very happy. He told the Reporter: "It was not a nasty letter. It was, 'Come on be a professional.'
"I felt I needed to remind her of her obligations to show up. She showed up. That's all I cared about."
Lindsay stars in the film with Felicity Huffman and Jane Fonda - and proud old mum reckons she'll win an Oscar for it.
