Aguilera gets politicalAguilera gets politicalRaunchy rock chick Christina Aguilera reckons she knows What A Girl Wants - and that's to get political.

The sultry singer has taken time out to urge young women to use their vote in the forthcoming US presidential election.

Aguilera fronted a documentary on MTV in which she stressed the importance of voting and women fighting for their rights.

When she appeared on MTV's Total Request Live, she told her fans to "start a revolution".

Aguilera, sporting a T-shirt with the phrase "Stop Bitching", criticised women who were planning to ignore their voting privilege.

Teen Hollywood quoted her as saying: "I think it's disrespectful as a female in this country to other females before us.

"They paved the way to even give us a right to vote. We really need to exercise that right."

The Dirrty singer added: "Politics truly affects you in every single way possible and you don't know how much it does.

"So, from the bottom of my heart, please register and get to the polls and vote."

The US Presidential elections, between George W Bush and John Kerry, take place on 2 November.
