Is it a shoe? Is it a boot? No, it’s a shoe-boot.
The 10-inch heeled creation is the latest in foot fashion from London-born designer, Alexander McQueen. As part of his Spring Summer 2010 show, McQueen unveils an array of break-neck heels, adorned with sequins, animal skin and hand-painted designs.
McQueen began his career as a theatrical costumier before training at St. Martins College of Art. The student prodigy was such a hit that late fashionista Isabella Blow famously bought his entire graduate collection. His latest offerings are inspired by Charles Darwin’s The Origin Of The Species and have a distinctly aquatic feel.
The hottest ticket of Paris Fashion Week was, unsurprisingly, oversubscribed so the exclusive, invitation-only show was due to be streamed live to the world via Showstudio.com. But the site crashed unexpectedly just hours before curtain up. The reason? Rumour has it that this was down to our favourite eccentric star - Lady Gaga. The singer was due to provide music for the show and Tweeted that her new single, Bad Romance, would be premiered and that fans could hear it online. There was a surge, and then the inevitable crash.
