Last night a source reportedly revealed to The Sun: "Abbey was thrilled. She didn't have to think about it and said 'Yes' immediately. She cried tears of joy and melted into his arms.

"It was such a happy, romantic and magical moment."

Peter apparently popped the question on holiday in Sardinia, prompting Abbey to burst into tears.

And according to the source the couple, who have been together for four years, want a huge wedding.

The source continued: "They have not set a date yet. Peter simply decided it was the right time to take their relationship a step further.

"He has been thinking about getting engaged for some time. But he wanted to wait for the ideal moment.

"As a bit of a romantic, he thought it would be a great idea to ask Abbey to marry him when it was just the two of them together in Sardinia."

Abbey's rep told Sky Showbiz: "We don't know anything about it. It hasn't been confirmed to us."

But The Sun says Peter's agent Jonathan Barnett has confirmed the engagement, and Sky Showbiz is waiting to hear back from him at this very moment.
