Amy Winehouse Amy Winehouse Amy Winehouse's mum says her daughter is in desperate need of help.

Janis Winehouse insists she'll do "whatever it takes" to make the 25-year-old better.

Her comments come as ITV footage to be broadcast tonight shows the singer trying to play the drums while seemingly under the effect of alcohol at her private villa in St Lucia.

Janis told interviewer Daphne Barak: "The need to rescue her (Amy) is enormous.

"I just want her to be okay and I would do whatever it took to make that right.

"Amy is in denial all the time. She probably feels trapped, her body is trapping her.

"But I know with addiction you do not have the choice because the substance itself directs you."

She went on: "I want to say to her - 'Amy, what are you doing? Don't you know what you're doing?'"

Amy's dad Mitch added: "I need my daughter to be a whole person Amy Winehouse and MitchAmy and her dad Mitch in June 2008again.

"For the last six months there's been a remarkable recovery," he continued.

"A gradual recovery, which is good. With slight backward steps - not drug backward steps, more drink backward steps if you follow my drift. I think that will be the pattern of recovery."

Amy has been holidaying in St Lucia on and off since the beginning of this year.

She is currently in the process of divorcing her husband, Blake Fielder-Civil.

Sky Showbiz have approached Amy's reps for comment on this story and are currently awaiting feedback.
