Ant and Dec Ant McPartlin and Declan Donnelly have experienced a terrifying brush with death.

The telly twosome had to dive for cover during a recent trip to Afghanistan.

They were caught in the middle of a rocket attack at an airport.

Ant and Dec were on their way to present a Mirror Pride Of Britain award to an emergency medical team in the troubled region when the incident happened.

They were forced to duck down as missiles were fired on Kandahar airport, narrowly missing surrounding planes and buildings at the base.

Ant told The Sun: "It was pretty hairy - not something I'd like to experience again."

"All the guys around us were pulling on armour," he continued. "We couldn't believe how close we were to being hit. It shows what our troops go through every day."

Dec added: "One minute everything was calm and the next the sirens were wailing."
