But now Jennifer Garner has stepped forward to confirm the sproglet chit-chat.

She's revealed she and Ben Affleck are indeed expecting their second child.

Confirming the pregnancy at an event in Los Angeles, Jen, whose swelling belly has not gone unnoticed by observers, responded to questions about her future plans by pointing to her stomach, smiling and saying "this".

She then told Access Hollywood: "We're so excited, obviously," adding:

"It always makes me laugh when people say 'Is she?, Isn't she?' It's like eventually you will know, so just chill out for a minute."

Jen also joked about her rapidly rounding belly, saying: "Oh, I'm not pregnant. I just had a lot of carbs for breakfast. It's just - what do they call it - a breakfast pouch?"

Jen and Ben's bubba-to-be, thought to be due around late 2008, will be sibling to the couple's two-year-old daughter Violet.
