It's fair to say, some may not even notice the disappearance of this particular calibre of celebrities.

But so it begins... Celebrity Big Brother 2009.

Consider the house a big mixing bowl - hell's knows what will come out of the oven at the end of it all.

But the ingredients include plenty of things that may not blend well together.

1 dollop of Mutya Buena
1 fistful of Verne Troyer
2 generous cup of Lucy Pinder
1 pint of Tommy Sheridan
1 slither of Ben Adams
1 dribble of Tina Malone
1 shake of Michelle Heaton
1 squirt of Terry Christian
1 heaped teaspoon of Coolio
1 level tablespoon of Ulrika Jonsson

So as Davina McCall kicked off the series and introduced the celebs there were a few boos, a lot of nerves and awkward giggles - and a lot of crowd love for Mini-Me Verne Troyer.

And what do the new batch of stars promise?

Well, Tina's OCD, Verne's uber messy, Lucy hates liberals and Tommy is big on fighting the socialist corner.

Michelle HeatonTerry's got a motor mouth and Ulrika only wants people to talk to her if she speaks to them.

Everyone seemed to know who La Toya was - funny that, and Verne's another they all appeared to be familiar with.

But no one had a clue who Tommy was, and Ben was a bit of a mystery to most.

Later on during the evening, it was announced that Terry would be head of the house, meaning he'll get to live in luxury private quarters and be the only housemate able to nominate the others for the public vote - while remaining immune himself.
