A Los Angeles judge has delayed sentencing Chris Brown on an assault charge.
According to the Associated Press, the judge wants to seek more input from authorities in Virginia about whether they could accommodate a tougher sentence of community labour, rather than community service in that particular state.
Superior Court Judge Patricia Schnegg said at Wednesday's hearing that she'll sentence Chris on 27th August.
Rihanna was not present at the hearing which pertained to Chris' felony assault charges on her.
According to People, the judge said: "We still have not received from Virginia what their community labour proposal would be. I do not favour community service, I favour something along the lines of Caltrans (freeway clean-ups)."
In June, Chris pleaded guilty to assaulting Rihanna and it's expected he'll be sentenced to five years probation and six months of community service.
People reports he may also have to take domestic violence classes and pay a fine.
It's believed a second felony charge of making criminal threats may be dropped.
A month ago, Chris posted a video message on his personal website, apologising for the incident.
He said: "I have told Rihanna countless times, and I am telling you today, that I am truly sorry and that I wasn't able to handle the situation both differently and better."
