Chris Brown's mum says Rihanna was like a daughter to her.
Joyce Hawkins has showered affection on her son's ex-girlfriend, stating that she "loves" the star who used to be an intimate part of her family's life.
"I love her. She's like a daughter. She became family to us. She's spent Christmas with us and for the last two years," Joyce told People.
Asked whether she missed Rihanna, she added: "Of course I do".
Joyce, herself a victim of domestic violence, said the point where Chris admitted his physical attack on Rihanna back in February was "the single most painful moment in my life".
"I just sighed and was like, 'What in the world happened?' And you know he started talking, but I could see the pain in his face and how hurt he was while he was trying to tell me. It wasn't easy for him to do.
"I've never seen any violence in Chris, ever," she went on.
"There was never a history of violence. He's always been my little angel."
Chris was sentenced to 180 days' community labour and is on probation for five years for his attack on Rihanna.
He has since apologised for the incident, and claims he still loves his ex.
