They're all growing up so fast these days.

First Dakota Fanning starts wearing heels...

And now she's driving a car.

OK, so it was actually more of a pimped up golf cart but still, the principle remains the same.

The teenager was treated to a spin around the studio whilst appearing on Ellen DeGeneres' chat show, where she moaned about being too young to drive.

At just 14-years-old, the actress will have to wait nearly a year before she's eligible to take her first lesson.

Although that's probably no bad thing, judging by her current lack of driving skills.

Dakota nearly crashed while trying to parallel park in George Clooney's spot.

But at least she's under no illusion as to how bad she is.

We've seen the clip, and Dakota jokes: "You don't have to worry about me - I won't be on the roads until next August."

Thank goodness she has some time to practise.

Child star Dakota Fanning has come a long way. But she's the first to admit the journey to adulthood is all about learning. She told V magazine: "I think that when you're in the public eye, you automatically become a role model, because people are reading about you and looking at pictures of stuff you've done. But, you know, no one's perfect, everyone makes mistakes. I have made mistakes and I will make mistakes. I'm only human."
