Freida Pinto and Dev Patel Dev Patel and Freida Pinto have been busy setting the record straight on their alleged romance.

So are the couple an item?

"No, no, no," reckons Dev.

The 18-year-old was emphatic about his single status when the Slumdog pair got collared by Ryan Seacrest at the Oscars.

Freida, 24,  told Ry: "No one called to ask me out."

We find that hard to believe.

The pair were then quizzed about their rumoured hook-up by the queen of chat, Oprah Winfrey.

Freida told Ope: "The two of us are just really good friends.

"This is both our first film so we were sailing in the same boat, and without him literally it would have been impossible.

"We just help each other, just bounce off each other, and people have translated that into something else."

Oh well, we live in hope.
