The rumours were flying round that she was getting romantic with Matt after allegedly splitting from John Mayer.
But we have heard the reports that suggested that Jen has never even met him.
A source told Perez Hilton: "Jennifer's friends think Matt planted this false story to get press for himself.
"He's apparently done this kind of thing before."
