Kate Beckinsale has won £20,000 in libel damages at the High Court.
An article in the Daily Express claimed Kate had been dropped from a remake of the 1968 film Barbarella.
The piece said the film was "expected to be a big commercial hit so it will be a real blow to Kate" and that the role had gone to fellow actress Rose McGowan instead.
But Kate's solicitor Graham Atkins said she had never been part of the project in the first place, and that the paper's claims "wrongly gave the impression that the claimant's career is in decline."
Mr Atkins added that the story was totally false and had caused Kate a lot of embarrassment.
The newspaper offered its sincerest apologies through its lawyer and said it was happy to pay damages and pick up Kate's legal fees.
