A-Rod's rep confirmed that chat about an engagement is "absolutely not true".
The actress started the rumour mill churning on Monday when she stepped out with a sparkly diamond on her ring finger.
This prompted speculation on her marital status, and forced A-Rod's rep to deny the rumours.
Interestingly, the furore comes in the same week Kate's ex-husband, Chris Robinson, announced he is expecting a baby with his girlfriend Allison Bridges.
Call us cynics, but it seems like clever timing from Kate's camp...
