Katie Holmes is suffering from an unexpected family bereavement.
Her brother-in-law has died from suspected heart failure.
Joseph Fretti, the 48-year-old husband of Katie's oldest sister, Tamera, 41, collapsed on Sunday 12th April at their mother's home.
Joesph was the owner of a funeral home in Ohio. He had taken his two children to visit their 76-year-old grandmother in Florida, where his body was discovered by a family friend.
A medical examiner confirmed to Radaronline, who broke the story, that a cause of death has yet to be determined but foul play or suicide are not suspected.
Katie is expected to attend the funeral next Monday.
