Leighton Meester may look like she was born with a silver spoon in her mouth.
Her early days were quite the opposite, however.
In fact, Leighton was born to a mum in prison.
Leighton was born just as her mum, Connie, was starting a 10-year sentence for smuggling marijuana.
Leighton's father, Doug, also did time for being involved in the same operation that saw her mum sentenced.
Today, however, Connie is a screenwriter and Doug is in construction.
Leighton's told Us magazine: "It makes me very non-judgemental and open-minded.
"And I think it just makes me appreciate the things that I have now."
She also spoke about her close relationship with her mum saying: "She's always there for me, no matter what.
"I swear, that woman knows everything."
A bit like Blair Waldorf, then?
