Lindsay Lohan's father is making headlines again.

This time Michael Lohan is apologising for his tirade against Samantha Ronson.

Is he trying to make himself more famous than his actress daughter?

Having called Sam "a drug" and a "dark, hideous and disgusting representation of humanity" in the past, he has now told New York magazine: "I definitely regret all the things I said about Samantha."

Clearly Daddy Lohan has had some sort of moral epiphany as he went on to say: "I'm a Christian... I should not pass judgement on anyone."Samantha Ronson and Lindsay Lohan

We're wondering whether this sudden 180 on the moral compass could be due to the fact that his daughter disowned him after his comments about her girlfriend and called him a "public embarrassment" on her blog.

Michael claimed that he had used the media in order to communicate with his daughter saying: "In the past, I felt that the best way to get to her was to speak out publicly... and it was the wrong choice."

He also admitted: "Family matters should be kept private... I've learned that now."

It's taken him a while to realise this, but somehow we still don't think this is the last we'll hear of the Lohan family squabbles...
