And now we know the reason why.

It's a foot-in-mouth situation...

Since while some peeps were chatting addiction and the like, turns out the Aerosmith rocker is suffering from nothing more dramatic than a foot injury.

The 60-year-old injured his trotter during a "trademark athletic performance onstage".

"The foot repair pain was intense, greater than I'd anticipated," Steven said in a statement to People.

"The months of rehabilitative care and the painful strain of physical therapy were traumatic. Liv and Steven in 2001

"I really needed a safe environment to recuperate where I could shut off my phone and get back on my feet." (No pun intended, Steve?)

But for those of you worried that this spells the end of the road for Liv's dad's head-banging days, panic not.

"Make no mistake, Aerosmith has no plans to stop rocking," Steven continued.

"There's a new album to record, then another tour."

 Bet Liv's relieved - and we are too.
