Madonna Madonna Madonna was taken to hospital over the weekend after falling from her horse.

The 50-year-old star was riding in the Hamptons, New York, when the accident happened.

Her publicist confirmed the singer was treated and released, having suffered minor injuries and bruising.

Madge's rep, Liz Rosenberg, later blamed the incident on paparazzi following Madge, claiming they surprised the horse that she was riding.

"The accident occurred when the horse Madonna was riding was startled by paparazzi who jumped out of the bushes to photograph the singer, who was visiting friends on Eastern Long Island over the weekend," Madge's publicist said in a statement.

"Madonna will be having further tests and will continue to remain under observation by doctors."

However, according to TMZ, police are now questioning the cause of the fall, claiming no one from Madge's camp blamed the paparazzi at the time of the accident report.

Police officials told the website: "There is no mention of photographers. It's a matter of spin control that went out of control.

"They would have written 'paparazzi' in the form - if they felt there was a problem."

This is not the first time Madonna, who is a keen equestrian, has been injured while riding.

In 2005, the mum-of-three suffered cracked ribs and a broken hand after falling from her horse on an estate near London.

That incident occurred on her 47th birthday, and the horse had been a present from her now ex-husband, Guy Ritchie.
