Because compared to the current Doctor, David Tennant, Matt is a rather unknown name.
The 26-year-old from Northampton has been named as David's successor and will start filming in the role next year.
Reports say around seven million people tuned in to see the unveiling of the BBC's new face this weekend.
Matt will be the 11th Doctor and the youngest actor so far to tackle the role.
Well, there's nothing like some new blood to keep us interested, right?
