Michelle Williams and Heath LedgerMichelle Williams has talked about life since Heath Ledger's death.

Michelle and Heath, who have a daughter together, split months before the actor died in January 2008 of an accidental drug overdose.

She told Vogue: "After the first year, the pain is less intense; it's less immediate."

The actress, 29, admitted she tried dating but "the timing was impossible".

Referring to her brief relationship with director Spike Jonze she said: "I thought falling in love again was the only thing that was going to save me from the pain.

"This (was an) erroneous idea: It just makes things more complicated."

Michelle, who is now single, said she is grateful for her life with three-year-old Matilda, who reminds her of Heath: "Every time I really miss him and wonder where he's gone, I just look at her."
