But that doesn't stop her dad wading in to stick up for his little girl now and then.

Sixteen-year-old Miley caused a stir at the Teen Choice awards earlier this month when she danced on-stage around a pole.

Now her dad Billy Ray's jumped into the argument to say he doesn't get what all the fuss is about.

He revealed to Access Hollywood: "You know what? I just think that Miley loves entertaining people. She loves singing (and) songwriting."Miley Cyrus and Billy Ray Cyrus

And daddy Billy reckons his daughter's best off just ignoring her critics.

"I always tell her to love what you're doing and stay focused for the love of the art and not worry so much about opinion," he continued.

"I give my kids a lot of freedom to make the art they wanna make, and make it in their own voice. I think it's important."

Uh-oh, does this mean we might see Miley doing some country music or a bit of hip-hop perhaps in the near future?

Please say it isn't so...
