Has Tyra Banks started a stampede?
We all knew that America's Next Top Model was a riot, but we didn't think it would be taken so literally.
All hell broke loose this weekend as 10,000 model wannabes queued for auditions for the reality TV show.
Some ladies had waited through the night, eager to get into a New York hotel where try-outs hosted by Tyra were underway.
Fighting broke out and people were knocked over after a smoking car reportedly pulled up next to the queue on Saturday afternoon, with many thinking there was a fire or a bomb.
As women clam
oured to get over police barricades, witnesses told a local radio station that the mayhem turned manic, after a man jumped out of a car and started stealing handbags.
"The girls were running like it was 9/11 part two. I feared for my life," said Jennifer Brown, a model from Brooklyn.
"It was pretty scary," said Jessica Paravati, another potential contestant.
According to New York Police, two women and a man were arrested on charges of inciting a riot and disorderly conduct.
Six women also required medical attention after being crushed or having fainted.
After the riot, many belongings, including shoes and clothing were strewn all over the street outside the hotel.
