Nico MirallegroNico MirallegroThings are going from bad to worse in Hollyoaks.

Jeez - we need a box of Kleenex whenever we watch it these days.

So what's the next thing to go wrong?

Well it ain't sunshine and flowers for the Osbourne family... in August Newt (played by Nico Mirallegro), is diagnosed with schizophrenia.

We've all seen it coming - his "mate" Eli (Marc Silcock) has turned into the thing nightmares are made of.

And it's become obvious that Eli isn’t real. But now his foster dad, Jack Osborne's (Jimmy McKenna) faux death is going to make things come to a head.

When Newt hears Jack's voice on the phone he gets more confused - thinking Jack's trying to get him from beyond the grave.

He reckons he must have somehow killed Jack but luckily Newt's eventually taken to hospital, where his schizophrenia is diagnosed and treated - thank goodness.

Nico Mirallegro said: "Newt is distraught when he hears Jack’s voice on the phone. He convinces himself he must have killed his foster dad in some way and is now hearing voices from the grave.

"When Newt is then told that Eli is a figment of his imagination he gets really confused as to what is real and what’s not, the irony being Eli isn’t real but Jack is.

"It's been amazing to have been involved in such a great storyline and I’ve enjoyed the challenge of playing a character with schizophrenia. I hope the viewers enjoy it too."
