Chace Crawford Chace Crawford We've hit the jackpot of hot celeb interviewees.

When we heard we had bagged an interview with Chace, we weren't sure what to expect.

Sure he's stunning to look at, but would he be a bit arrogant?

He is, after all, an overnight sensation on both sides of the Atlantic...

But we're delighted to report that not only is the 23-year-old Gossip Girl star hotter than a cooked breakfast - he's a bit of a charmer too.

There was not even the slightest hint of ego in the Texan actor, who seemed almost embarrassed when we quizzed him about his newly found sex-symbol status, replying that it was "flattering" and "overwhelming".

Chace, who has just returned to New York after a whistle-stop tour of London, said he was "shocked" by the "warm welcome" he had received from Gossip Girl fans in the UK.

"I love London," he told us. "It's the third time I've been this year. It's beautiful. I helped turn on the Christmas lights in Oxford Street and the reception when I was introduced was just wonderful."

It's perhaps no surprise that modelling was actually the first choice of career for Chace - but he soon got bored of the business and, having taken a year off, he "stumbled"  into acting in a way that even he admits is a bit like a "fairy tale".

"I'm extremely happy," Chace said of his stint on the second season of ITV2's Gossip Girl, adding that there was no truth of rumours of competition between the show's leading cast of young hotties, including Blake Lively, Penn Badgley and Taylor Momsen.Blake Lively and Chace Crawford Blake Lively and Chace in Gossip Girl

"Sadly there's absolutely no juice," he said. "I wish I could say there was some dirt, but the truth is everyone is like family. We're all very close and look out for each other. The dynamic is very conducive."

So that's the work bit out the way, but what's the skinny on Chace's love life?

"I'm single at the moment, until the right girl comes along and strikes a chord," Chace confessed. "I'm having a blast as a bachelor."

For any of you out there that might be interested, the star, who counts Lindsay Lohan as a mate, said he didn't go for a particular "type" of girl.

"I'm not like, I go for blondes or brunette or anything like that," he confided. "It's more general. Confidence is very sexy in a girl. And someone with a great sense of humour. It's just about gelling mentally, if you like the same kind of music and stuff."

"On an ideal date, I like to keep the pressure off and the expectation low," he continued.

"I like sports, so a basketball game or something like that is good. Or a concert or the theatre. Y'know, keep it light."

You heard it here first, ladies.
