Patrick SwayzePatrick SwayzePatrick Swayze has spoken for the first time about his battle with cancer.

In a heartbreaking interview, he says that it's been very tough going...

But insists that he's not going to give up the fight.

Pat spoke out about his experience of pancreatic cancer in an interview titled Patrick Swayze: The Truth, with Barbara Walters.

The actor desperately wanted to clear up reports that emerged last March, insinuating he was about to die.

Sadly however, he does admit that there may not be a lot of time left, saying: "I'd say five years is pretty wishful thinking.

"Two years seems likely if you're going to believe statistics. I want to last until they find a cure, which means I'd better get a fire under it."

When asked if he was afraid of dying, Pat said: "I don't know. You know there's a lot of fear here."

Pat, who appeared slim on the show, said it was this drastic weight loss that alerted him to the fact that he had cancer: "I dropped about 20lbs in the blink of an eye."

But he says the show must go on, and that he's continued working throughout his treatment, filming a new series called The Beast last July, whilst having chemotherapy on the weekends.

He decided to ditch his painkillers during shooting, saying: "Everyone thought I was out of my mind.

"But the (pills) take the edge off of your brain."

He added: "What winning is to me is not giving up, no matter what's thrown at me. And I can keep going."
