To find her house had been burgled and her car stolen.
Thieves broke into her £1.1 million home in Archway, North London, by reaching through the letterbox and opening a catch inside, according to police.
The Holby City actress, who only recently married her fourth husband DJ Jeremy Healy, came home to find her £11,000 Mini Cooper car missing.
It turned out the thieves had found the keys and fitted it with false number plates before driving it around London for several days.
Last night she said: "It's been a very trying time, but life goes on."
A spokesman for the Met said: "Police are investigating a burglary and car theft which took place between 7.15pm on 13 October and 12pm on 14 October."
