Renee Zellweger Renee Zellweger had a brush with the C-word.

And it changed her life.

Now she's decided to open up about it...

Renee's revealed that she had a breast cancer scare many years ago.

Back in 1996 Renee was giving herself an examination, during which she found two small lumps in her right breast - so she got herself down to the docs to get them checked out.

She told Self mag: "I thought, 'Oh, I know what you do now. You find out what that is.' So I went and found out.

"I was like, 'Let's just have it over with. Get in there, stab away, get your little crunchy bit or whatever you're looking for, put it in the mail and we'll call it a day.'

"Then I had a weird couple of days waiting for the phone call."

Her results showed that they were benign breast tumours - but Renee, who lost her gran to cancer in 1969 most certainly did the right thing getting it checked out.

She added: "I pay attention, I do go get my check-ups."

Huzzah to Renee for setting a good example to us all.
