It was all going so well...
Despite recently celebrating 13 years of marriage, Sean Penn and wife Robin Wright Penn are reportedly separating.
It's the second time in two years the couple have begun separation proceedings.
The pair requested a divorce in December 2007, but told courts they had changed their mind four months later.
Now Extra reports Sean, 48, filed court papers requesting a separation from 43-year-old Robin on Thursday 23rd April in California.
He is seeking joint physical and legal custody of their children, daughter Dylan, 18, and 15-year-old son Hopper.
Eyebrows were raised back in February when Sean neglected to thank Robin in his Oscar acceptance speech, after winning the gong for his portrayal of gay rights activist and politician Harvey Milk.
The couple then explained the bloop to Access Hollywood, with Sean cryptically saying: "She knows." Robin elaborated, saying they knew there wouldn't be "enough time."
The couple have been together since the early 1990s, following Sean's divorce from Madonna in 1989.
