Now, Lynne Spears is speaking out about her daughter's very public breakdown, including her recent stint in rehab.
Lynne told Us Weekly magazine: "You go into a time in your life with the world watching and you are just trying to figure yourself out.
"It's sad that the whole world had to watch her make mistakes that all of us have made at one time or another."
The mag reports mother and daughter spoke for the first time on the 10th June, after Brit severed ties while in rehab.
She was reportedly furious about being sent in for treatment at the request of Lynne.
But now the two are making steps back to a healthy relationship.
Lynne said: "Britney Jean Spears is the sweetest and the most sensitive and loving of all my children.
"She's just figuring things out."
