But being dumped is never easy.

The X Factor judge has been given his marching orders by girlfriend Terri Seymour after six years together.

Simon's rep Max Clifford has confirmed the split, telling People:

"Terri phoned Simon and finished it in September, about six weeks ago.

"They are going to remain close friends. Simon thinks the world of Terri and that isn't going to change. He also understands her reason for ending it."

"In the past Terri has said that she wants kids, but that just isn't Simon," Max added.

"Nobody else is involved, certainly not on Simon's side."

Simon and Terri met when she interviewed him for a show in 2002.

A friend of Simon's told the Mail On Sunday:

"Anyone who knows Simon has known that his relationship with Terri was over months ago.

"She wanted kids with Simon desperately, but he wasn't interested in starting a family or getting married.

"Now, Terri has moved on and Simon is hugely relieved."

Who next for showbiz's most notorious Mr Nasty? He's admitted fancying X Factor finalist Ruth Lorenzo, so maybe that's one potential option for him, if she's interested...

Simon's X Factor sidekick and ex-girlf Sinitta is also reportedly offering him a shoulder to cry on following the split.
