Now support from the showbiz world has been flooding in.
The word is Wendy herself has been "overwhelmed" by all the kind words...
It was revealed at the weekend that she has cancer of her kidneys which has spread to her bones.
Her EastEnders co-star Shane Richie, who played Alfie Moon, told The Sun: "My heart goes out to Wendy.
"I had some of my happiest days with her and all I can do is wish her health for the future."
Her close pal Paul O'Grady added: "I'm in shock - she kept this to herself.
"She told me nothing, she's so brave.
"I've sent an email saying I'm here for her, but she's a toughie and I’m not giving up hope."
Our thoughts go out to her too.
