Tom ChambersTom ChambersFleckles schmeckles man, the Strictly final was a blast.

A bumper evening of shimmies, thrusts, daring lifts - and the odd stumble - made for a class night of television.

We even got to see John Sargeant dragging Kristina across the floor again - not to mention Austin's guns of glory and plenty of Brucie's priceless gaffs.

But after a wowser first part of the show, where all three couples impressed with their two dances, it was gutting to see Lisa Snowdon and Brendan Cole getting the boot.

They actually had the highest marks (a perfect 80) from the judges after the first round - but the audience had the last say and they took third place.

However, they still got the chance to do their show dance, which mostly proved that leotards are vile - even someone with a body as hot as Lisa's didn't look great in one.

But then it came to the final two's turn to perform their show dances - the routines where no rules are allowed.

While Rachel Stevens and Vincent Simone's was faultless (until Vince threw Rach a little vigorously at the end leaving her to enjoy a face plant), it was left to Tom Chambers and Camilla Dallerup to dazzle - and dazzle they did.Tom Chambers and wife ClareTom with his (very patient) wife Clare

It was pure entertainment and proved unequivocally that the boy could dance. They were sensational and left the judges unanimous in their claim that it was the performance of the series.

Job done.

The general public needed no more hints and a nation dialled away leaving Tom and Camilla the rightful victors - although we have to say they were all awesome.

Bring on the next series of Strictly sharpish.
