Tom Cruise has been gushing all over the shop about his missus Katie Holmes - and he's even revealed a little gem about their early days.

It seems he fell head-over-heels for his missus, right from the word go...

Tom said: "I knew I wanted to marry Kate when I met her."

He told The New York Times Style mag that Katie told him she'd dreamt of marrying him when she was a wee girl.

His response was: "I wouldn't want to disappoint her."

So what did he go and do?

Well, the mad-cap romantic only went and bought Katie her engagement ring - very shortly after their first date in 2005.

"At one point, I thought she was going to ask me to marry her first and I put her off by changing the subject.

"I wanted to ask her."

Man, these two are intense.
