It wasn't caused by some explosive row.

Nor had either party been cheating.

Instead, says Lindsay, the demise of Li-Ro came like a bolt from the blue, taking her totally unawares.

"I had no idea what was going on. I just hadn't seen her (Sam) in, like, a week. She, like, disappeared," the star revealed on The Ellen DeGeneres show.

The 22-year-old added that it was "really weird... when you don't knoLindsay and Samantha Ronson back in the dayw you're breaking up."

Linds admitted the moment she realised it was over - following an incident at Los Angeles' Chateau Marmont - was a "really tough night", but denied infidelity was at the heart of the split.

"I don't believe in cheating on someone," she insisted.

Despite her heartbreak, Li-Lo doesn't appear to discount the possibility of Sam being in her life again.

"I really care about Samantha and we'll see what happens," she said, broaching the possibility of a reunion.

"Maybe when we're fully in the right place... I love her."

Sweet, but sad. Poor old Li-Lo.
